Keeping a number means preserving the SIM account so the same +852 number remains assigned to you. A 30-day data pack, a 365-day SIM expiry and a card’s last activation date are three different deadlines. Start with the number you need to retain, then check the renewal action that actually extends it.

These are published package or recharge amounts, not a promise of the cheapest dealer price. Annualised figures spread the upfront cost; they are not monthly bills. For an existing number, ask for an all-in MNP quote. For a new number, include the SIM/eSIM charge and delivery at checkout.
Two cheap-looking shortcuts to avoid
Club SIM’s current clause 14.5 counts 365 days from the last pack purchase. Do not calculate it from the pack’s expiry date or assume incoming texts reset it. The current public offer starts at HK$15; we could not confirm a standalone HK$6 SMS pack is still purchasable. Set a reminder before the deadline and check the new account expiry after buying.
SoSIM’s HK$65 annual voice pack is a voice entitlement, not documented as a standalone 365-day number extension. Its So+ HK$60/360-day validity guarantee requires an eligible local data or Classroom Save package. The FAQ explicitly separates SIM and service-package validity. Neither headline should be quoted as unconditional HK$60–65 annual holding cost.
Choose for your actual use
- Mostly abroad and need OTPs: shortlist long validity, destination SMS support and a workable overseas renewal method before comparing small price differences.
- Visit Hong Kong occasionally: a modest annual data pool or a holding SIM plus separate trip data may suit you better than paying all year for monthly data.
- One short holiday: decide whether you need to keep a Hong Kong number at all. A data-only travel eSIM does not preserve an existing +852 line.
Before moving an existing number
Apply through the receiving carrier and keep the old line active until the transfer completes. OFCA confirms that cancelling first removes your right to port that number. Choose the port-in process, not a checkout that assigns a random new number; LuckySIM’s standard new-eSIM checkout does the latter.

Does an annual SIM give me fresh data every month?
Not unless the terms explicitly say so. A 30GB/1,095-day allowance is a single pool across the term.
Is the lowest renewal price also my first-year cost?
