Data access and a Mainland number are different purchases
CMHK’s China–Macau–Hong Kong prepaid eSIM is data-only: it has no voice or SMS service, must first activate in Hong Kong or Macau, and requires real-name registration for Hong Kong local data. It can supply trip data without replacing your main line, if your phone supports the required SIM arrangement. Those conditions apply to this product, not every CMHK plan.
csl also offers Mainland-number services through 86-Easy, 86-Easy Plus and 86-Easy Ultra. Ask which version fits your calling and SMS needs, what documents it requires, and the charge after any introductory waiver. A Mainland number does not guarantee that a particular bank or app will accept it.
Put the same requirements on both quotations
List local data, Mainland and Macau data separately, the post-allowance speed or extra charge, number-service fees, administration and contract length. Compare the total cash paid over the commitment. If you are buying a handset, request a SIM-only quote as well; a phone voucher saves money only against the price you would actually pay for that phone.
Check reception where you use the phone
A corporate group name or national coverage claim cannot tell you how calls work at your desk or inside your flat. If reception is the reason for switching, test the intended network there with your usual phone where possible. Do not sign a longer contract solely on a general promise of better indoor or Mainland coverage.
