Start with the app, not the account settings. Check whether it has a Hong Kong release or a web version, and whether its service actually supports you. Downloading an app from another store is not the same as being able to register, pay for or use its service.
What can block the change
Apple’s region-change instructions require you to clear the account balance and resolve subscriptions that block the move. Pending purchases or refunds and Family Sharing can also matter. Do this before buying a gift card for the destination store.

Make the change with the correct details
- On iPhone, open Settings, your name, then Media & Purchases. Open the account’s Country/Region setting; wording may vary with the software version.
- Choose the new region, review the terms, and provide a valid payment method and accurate billing address where required.
- Check the new store and each important subscription after the change. Do not assume a previous price or feature carries over.
Use Apple’s current steps if a screen differs. If you do not have a payment method for the new region, Apple’s guidance is to wait until physically there before creating a new account without one—not to invent a billing address.
A gift card does not remove the restrictions
Apple says gift cards cannot be redeemed outside their purchase country or region. A US card is therefore not a way to fund a Hong Kong storefront. Buy only after confirming the account region, the exact subscription is available and the balance can pay for it.
